Just 37 percent of the poll’s respondents correctly identified the public option from a list of three choices provided to them… . This should serve as something of a reality check for people on both sides of the public option debate. If the respondents had simply chosen randomly among the three options provide to them, 33 percent would have selected the correct definition for the public option. Instead, only 37 percent did.

Fivethirtyeight.com quantifies the Obama message fail on health care reform.  Nobody understand what “public option” means, including the 23% of Democrats who think it has something to do with Britain’s system invading North America and clubbing senior citizens with wood paneling.  I never thought Obama would make me nostalgic for our former president’s special brand of eloquence, but here’s something that would come in quite handy right about now: Bush could talk to us like we were three-year olds. datn: It’s not Obama’s fault. The right wing is doing to message-giving Obama what your older brother does to you when you’re trying to dial a phone number — shouting “three! five! nine! eight! eight!” right in your ear.
